Creator on the Rise
We got featured in YouTube's "Creator on the Rise" program! Learn all about it below.
On Thursday, February 25th, 2021, I stumbled out of bed, checked my email, and screamed.
YouTube notified us that Made With Lau was slated to become the next Creator on the Rise!
Meaning, we were about to be featured on their Explore / Trending page for 24 hours, starting at 6AM PST on Friday.
If you're not familiar with what Creator on the Rise is, YouTube explains it in detail here, but it's a part of program where they highlight emerging artists, gamers, and creators every week. Each country has their own selections, and in the United States, YouTube highlights 3 "Creators" a week (and 1 gamer, 1 artist per week.)
This is a huge honor for us, considering how many creators there are on YouTube producing incredible content every single day.
Trending!
On Friday, February 26th, 2021, at 6AM PST, YouTube featured our channel prominently on their Explore / Trending page. I was still sleeping as this happened, but ran out of bed as soon as I woke up to check to see what was happening.
There we were, next to a bunch of music videos, Kylie Jenner, and Pokemon. Crazy!
Notes on the experience, and how it impacted our channel
We gained a ton of exposure!
- About 13-14M impressions on our Trending feature
- About ~120-150K views on our videos from Trending, and 4K - 5K watch hours
- About 5K additional subscribers
- Our CTR dropped to 0.8%, which was expected since not everyone who saw it was interested in watching a cooking video
- Our Average View Duration dropped from 7:12 to 3:54, for the same reasons
